2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Should I buy this truck?...

2001 Quad 4x4 SLT (but no sliding rear window!! aftermarket?) 55k miles, $19,500. Dodge service report is clean and clean carfax. The only thing holding me back is possible 53 block (dealer looked, but probably not very hard). Oh, I'm 1000 miles away, so I'm buying sight unseen!

But I wanted something a bit rare: 4x4... CC... LB... 5spd... That 5 spd requirement killed me... if I had been willing to settle for an automatic I would have been tripping over them... and probably paid less for it... In the end, I paid dearly for my impatience...



So with that in mind, do you really want/need to travel 1000 miles for a $20K purchase?

Well I'd rather not drive 1k miles, but there aren't too many Quad 4x4 SLT Auto's out there with that kind of mileage for anywhere near that price. I feel confident with the dealer clean report and Carfax, so while it is unseen, I do have a history record.

I wouldn't always trust CarFax. I ran the VIN for my truck and nothing would have flagged it as being what it is: a completely rebuilt truck created from a std cab 4x4 CTD and a club cab 2WD V10...

I agree IanF, but Carfax does guarantee the accuracy, and if this truck were like yours, would certainly qualify for the Carfax buyback guarantee.

Get a fellow member to look at it and send you some pictures w/his opinion before you do anything. 1000 miles is a bit of a ride to take for the "unknown" and especially the return 1000 miles if all looks good and ends up being not oh say 600 miles out . . . . as mentioned NEVER BUY SIGHT UNSEEN! MHO
