Hey all,

Yes I did lease my truck... . The local dealership called me today and offered to buy my truck and put me into a new one for the same monthly payment.

I am not too good at how this stuff works and was wondering if it would be worth my time???

That's purely something you'll have to decide.

IMHO, a lease only makes sense if you know UP FRONT that you will walk away from the asset at the end of the lease. If you've got any idea that you might want to keep the asset, modify it, etc. a lease probably is not the right way to go.

I'd be careful about the deal in other respects as well. The dealership is almost certainly not the leasing company. They'll have to pay off the leasing company to get your truck. Make darned sure that you don't end up owing anything. For that matter, they've approached you. There's money on the table for you here.

If you do get another truck you had better put your leased truck back to stock 100% or they will bill you for what it takes to bring the truck back to stock

I traded in my '99 with 5 payhments left. Not a lease, but same deal, same payments. I regret it every time I get into the new truck.

Thanks for the info. I just visited the dealer to show them that they didn't want to buy my truck... dents, modifications, mileage... . etc. .

I ran across a 1999 2500 single cab 4x4 with 89,000 miles on it. I ended up buying it from them. It was traded in yesterday. The dealership already had 2 potential buyers for the truck, but I snagged it up first. :)
