Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) should i go back to 1st gen

I have a post in 1st gen section, but know that I need to hear from all the guys who have owned both 1st and 2nd gen trucks. I'm really thinking of going back to a 1st gen truck, I had my 90' for 7 years and never had a problem with it. The 97' I'm on the 3rd transmission, 2nd transfer case and now a rear. Who knows I might not have another problem for 10 years or 300k but the gamble or the wondering if it's going to break down is driving me crazy.

any advice, or the pros and cons would be appreciated.
