My truck has a stalling or hesitation problem for about 6 mos now. I replaced the fuel filter, the dealer has first replaced the lift pump, then the injector pump. Then when the problem was not fixed, i told him about a cold start t. s. b. that some members suggested might help. After the t. s. b. , the dealer said no charge, lets see if this works. The problem went from every day to only once or twice a week, but still not completely fixed. The dealer gets no codes, and cannot duplicate the problem. The dealer says since I told him about the t. s. b. that this was a repair that I authorized, and should pay. I am wonder what do ,and looking for any suggestion on fixing both problems. P. S. 2nd lift pump in 90000 miles

I can't help with the hesitating, but if you have a receipt for work done, and it shows covered under warranty, and you signed it, they can't go after you to pay for it later. I had a similar incident, where I brought it in for multiple problems. It took two trips, and on the second trip they tried to charge me for two procedures. I showed them the work-order from the first trip that had warranty next to both items, and my signature at the bottom, and then asked for the manager. The manager agreed that I didn't have to pay.

If it wasn't under warranty, did he just not write up a work order?

I did.

I called 'em up, asked them if they could do the TSB -no waiting. They said yeah. I took it in, they did the TSB, truck is fixed. They charged, I payed--what the heck? They'll never see me again.

I knew what the problem was and didn't feel like doing all the crap for warranty to save me $60. It was not a condition that could be reproduced on demand.

They should have covered it. I didn't feel like pursuing it. Very unusual for me. ;)

Before leaving, did you back up to the shop door if it was open and let them have it (SMOKE) ? ;) :D

TSB's are not warranty extensions, they are fixes for problems (in a perfect word anyway) . In the text of EVERY tsb I have ever laid my eyes on there is a line like this "Re-imbursable under the provisions of the warranty" The dealer will be re-imbursed bt D/C ONLY under the provisions of the warranty. If you authorize the dealer to do something to your truck and he won't be paid by D/C then who should foot the bill? And by all means do smoky burnouts into the swervice department, that will make him VERY happy to see you next time you want his help. This board has a lot of good info, but sometimes you have to go to the dealer, how many TDR members have a DRB?

Nah, it was before I had smoke. :(

Not that I would have. They probably would have covered it if I had raised some ruckus. Just wasn't my mood that day.

There is a little idiot *ealership in my little town. They sell fords AND doggies. They don't care what Cummins says, they KNOW that ford owns Cummins. I blow smoke every time I go by there. Idiots.

What was the TSB

If you don't mind? What was the TSB that you had done?? I have a '99 also. . (WITH 94,XXX MILES ON IT. : (SIMILAR TO YOURS)

I'm a tease ain't I?

Intermittent stumble. A ECM glitch would, about once a week, cause a very very short interruption of power, Usually not under load. Truck had 50,000 on it back then. Like I said--pre-BOMB.

Here it is. Seems to be a Y2K thing only. Hey--maybe it was date format related.
