mercedes benz 240d ?

cheap filter kit any interest?

I'm really starting to weigh my option's and decide what I should do. I've had my truck for 3 year's now and love it. My issue is with mileage and fuel price's and the little thing's that I have to keep fixing. I have 164k on it and have all the faith in the world in the motor. The ATStrans. has maybe 20k since it's rebuild due to a input shaft. I'm alway's doing the brake's, my door's are rusty, it has rattles and squeek's and it get's maybe 11-12 mpg. If I sold it I would never get back what I've put into it. I've been thinking of going to a chevy crew cab short bed gas truck. I love the diesel but I want a clean looking cheaper to maintain vehicle. I know if I sell it I'd probably cry:-laf and regret it, but I need some advise as to me making a possible stupid choice. What are you guy's doing or thinking. Am I nut's?

gassers are cheaper to maintain.

if you are doing a lot of stop and go type driving where the motor never heats up consider a 4cyl car.
even the 5. 3L chevy has about 1/2 the pulling power of a stock cummins.

Consider a timing box for a little better mpg. PM me if you need one.

Unless you really need to drive a truck everyday, keep it and get a several years old small economy car for every day driving. No, you won't get your money out of it. Thats if you can even sell it.

I saw a report that, at $4/gal, people that trade in their "gas guzzler" 15mpg SUV's for a hybrid won't even begin to break even for over $5 years. Even if they can get rid of their SUV's they won't get much for them. And with the increased monthly car payment and mandatory full coverage insurance, that is not a cheap way to gol.

I just needed a good kick in the... ..... well you know! It's been in the back of my mind and I really wasn't sure if it would be wise to sell. Yes, it's paid for. Thank's for the reassurance. I'd hate to get rid of this thing. I need to ride my motorcycle more anyway! Thank's:)
