Should I tick the manual regen box on a new C&C?

Before I purchased my 3500 SRW, I was considering a C&C. I was going to order it with the manual regen, that doesn't mean it will not go into regen unless you tell it to, it just means you can tell it when you want aside from the program. I like that so when pulling heavy on a down hill run I could clear regen prior to city driving heavy, as to optimize MPG. But thats all I know about that. Let us know how it works if you get that option.

Welcome to TDR, I'm sure a member here has that option will chime in.

Like RVTRKN, when I was contemplating going 4500 that was a box I would have checked, even though it is likely never needed for normal use.

If you are Towing heavy there would be no reason to have to perform a regen. It would be doing it passive regen the entire time you're pulling heavy.

Is there a published temperature for DPF outlet temp that passive regen is occurring at?

Were are your getting Your Info from ? ..... I have had many CC pull 50/75% of the Miles on the OD , Place them in Stationary De-soot and do the sniff Test until the DFP passes. Claiming no reason does NOT apply to every Truck. You cannot burn the ash OUT on Active/Passive Regens.

I'm not going to post go around's on how to do multi Stationary De-sooting.

Definitely check that Box, I have never placed CC in Manual Regen and cannot confirm if equal to stationary De-sooting, But its better than keystrokes and Hope that's for sure.

That did not apply to my C&C, pulling heavy at 23k GCW driving on open road, it would go into regen even when pulling grades with EGT @1200*. I wished it was so, but it didn’t work for me.

It's a $245 option. Not a ton of money when your MSRP is near 70k. It seems like the general idea is that the truck will regen on its own when needed and, I wouldn't want to do a manual regen on a regular basis because the truck needs to be stationary and that would waist fuel but, it would be good to have just in case some scenario came along where it was necessary.
Glad to be here and thanks for the input.

I’m sure the intent is for a vocational truck like a bucket truck on a big job. It’ll start/stop and idle all day until the job is done. And if that truck is stuck in a big city where it can’t stretch it’s legs, that button is gold.

In the picture below, the Sterling bucket truck got into exactly that scenario. It sooted up, shut down, and the electricians killed the back up batteries because they thought they could finish the job and get down.
NOPE! It was me who had to juice up everything and do a stationary regen.
That button would have prevented those guys from having to jump out of that bucket and into another one.
Oh yea it was COLD OUT!

In addition , Wayne , and if the shop was putting the Truck into Stationary De-soot at due service intervals it likely would NOT have happen either.

Ash is goona collect if not burned out, and its just to dangerous to do De-sooting /Ash uncontrolled.

I really wish I had more time to make video's , I just don't have the time to create and edit them professionally.
