While changing my oil filter I noticed a cable bundle that goes to the a/c compressor with a fastener in the middle of the bundle of wires. This fastener goes over a stud on the side of the block, but doesn't have a nut on it to fasten it down. Is this actually a ground lug or only a mounting point for the cable? Does it need a nut ?

From your note above I can't tell exactly what your sharing with us... But in either case... if the bolt that is in the side of the block has a stud on it... and there is a provision to tie this bundle of wires to this stud... I'd install a nut... just to keep it out of the way and protected...

Thanks for your reply. I know it is a hard thing to explain. I guess what I was wanting to know was if this is just to hold the wire bundle or if it is susposed to be a electrical connection. Imagine a wire bundle about 3 feet long with a heavy metal ring sticking out of the middle. Well I guess I'll just put a nut on it and not worry about it.
