My new DTT transmission goes in tomorrow. It seems the front clutch is gone on my original unit at 48000 miles. My technician says he has experience with failed transmissions after the converter anti-drainback valve degrades, falls apart and sends the check ball down the line, plugging it up. He suggests we remove the valve and throw it away as a measure of insurance. Bill says this would be ok as long as I wait 30 seconds after start-up to let the convertor fill up. I am interested in other members experiences and thoughts on this subject.

I remove the valve on EVERY ONE I do. The benefits far outweigh leaving it in. Some of the benefits are less restriction from the ball being there, and the ball can't stick causing NO cooler flow which leads to meltdown of the gear train in the trans. I inform each of my customers to let the truck run for 15-30 seconds before putting into gear to allow converter to fill and for lube to reach all the internals before putting under a load. Have yet to have a complaint. (knock on wood!) Remove the valve, you'll be glad you did. :D
