Shredding door seal

I was at the local dealership today and I parked beside another new dieasel owner and after a bit of pleasantries about our diesels he asked me if my front doors were shredding the door seals like on his 05. He showed me his front door seal, the one that goes all around the door, on the body. The way the door is made every time he opens and closes the doors they rip apart the seal. Literally shred it! I checked mine and sure enough it's doing it to mine as well. He says all the new trucks are made like that too... I am going to take a picture and post it on my web tomorrow. . it's incredible. What a screw up on Dodges part.

There are several post on the door seal problem. Dodge has a TSB for this problem and after replacing mine for the third time I finally got the new design. The new seals are narrower and you can see the difference.

I took my truck to my local dealer and he replaced both front door seals even though the passenger door seal wasn't bad yet, he said that it would go bad so he replaced both of them (it is great to have a dealer who cares about the customer). I hear so many stories about poor dealer service so I thought I would give one a thumbs up. If you are in the Utah area give Quality Dodge a try. They are in Tooele UT about 15 miles west of Salt Lake

Get a can of silicone spray and spray that 3" section every month or so, and carry it under the back seat. Mine have only the little tear they had 6 months ago when I first sprayed them.

I should've checked to see if it was already posted here before I posted. . sorry about that. I'm going to head off to the dealership this morning and see if there has been an update from them on this issue. Will report back with a link to the pictures this afternoon.
