Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Shudder at high loads

Maybe someone can tell me if this is a trans or lift pump problem.



At higher loads, i. e. highway speed in top gear, the truck bucks and shudders when more fuel is added to accelerate. I have not noticed a similar problem at low speed. Everything else seems normal.



Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong, or getting ready to fail?

How long have you had the upgrades? Is this a new problem or has it been there all along?

I had the same problem before DTT rebuild. Pulling 10K load up a steep grade out of overdrive anything past 1/2 throttle the truck would start shuttering. I had assumed it was a lockup problem. I do not think it is a lift pump but you really can not rule it out without a pressure guage. I would call DTT and get another opinion. When my trans. was rebuilt DTT's Smart Controller was installed which controls lockup,overdrive etc. and I have not had any problems since. What gear were you in when this occurred?.

Dave... ..... Have you read on DTT's site the thread that talkes about transmission shudder? From my understanding after you had the DTT upgrade you shouldn't feel the shudder anymore. Here is the link to the thread on Bill's site. Hope it helps.
