I am new here so I will get my prifile set up later.

I have a 2004. 5 1 ton, SRW Long box with 75,000 miles on it. When I am in stop an go trafic or a slight incline and I am going around 8-10 mph the truck shudders jumping back and forth between 1st and 2nd.

Took it to the local dealer for a test drive with the trans guy he said they are seeing this with trucks any where between 30-70k miles and there is no fix at this point for it. Not what I wanted to here. Any one else have this issue and have you found out how to fix it.

Thank Doug

Mine has 67,000 on it and does the same thing I thought it was the carrier bearing but it wasn't. It's more of an annoyance than anything.

Mine did the same thing at 35,000 miles and dealer said it was the U-joint, they fixed it and has been fine since. I thought it was the carrier bearing due to the rubber looked ripped and worn out. They said it was fine and that is normal wear.

Go back to the dealer and ask them to read TSB 21-009-07. If the truck is hunting 1st-2nd at light throttle it needs the governor solenoid replaced, pn# 4617210.

If the truck's out of warranty you can do it yourself. The solenoid is right on the valve body and is little more than a trans service. 1. 5 hour job including road test and wash your hands

Thanks for the info. I read the TSB and that is what it is doing. I guess I expect to much from the dealer to figure this out:confused:. The help and info that is given out on this board is awsome. Thanks:)

Thanks it fixed the problem. I was 2000 out of warrenty and the dealer would not cover it. Hope I get a call asking me how my service was#@$%!. Since I had to get help for you  to fix the problem I will see how I can screw up the survey. Cost me $400. 00

Thanks.

I was close to the 70k warranty on mine took it to the dealer and told the service writer the TSB and he wouldn't even type the info on the sheet for the service guy so I put the piece of paper right on the instrument cluster. They called me and said it was the tsb and fixed it. Guess I know too much. Thanks TDR
