So I found this truck: 1993 Dodge W250 Club Cab LE 4wd Cummins Turbo Diesel

I drove it. It has just over 200,000 miles. The transmission shifts firm, and doesn't seem to hunt between gears. It has never been rebuilt. ?

When you accelerate from a stop, there is a shudder almost like it has Super Swampers on it, but it has mild all terrains. The shudder goes away after five or ten miles per hour.

Other than that, everything works. It pulls very slightly, but it's barely noticeable.

It has very mild paint faid on the cab, and the bed is in better shape than I thought it would be in.

Any ideas?

Drive it for 30 minutes or so, then feel all the u-joints for heat. Also check the carrier bearing rubber cushion for slop. The bearing itself is probably ok. When they go bad they spin in the rubber and it is obvious. Make sure the u-joints are in alignment.

Alignment

Still don't understand 'alignment' when talking about the drive shaft joint?

Please help, a drawing for the slow witting(me) would be helpful!

Thanks,

The alignment only applies to two piece drive shaft, then you can get the u-joint pins misaligned when you re-insert the spline into the front part of shaft. There is an angle alignment that refers to the angle the drive shaft connects to the differential, ususlly doesnt change ubnless lifting blocks are iinstalled, etc. bg
