I have a slight shudder or vibration when I first take off in second gear, even does it when taking off in first and then after shifting to second. Any one else have this problem? Pretty irritating. My 01 does not do this and seems to be a lot more responsive. 03 seems to be a little sluggish at low RPM's, not nearly as quick. This is really the only complaint I have with the new truck other than some of the corners DC cut on the interior niceties.

I've noticed the same problems you describe.

Also it's a dog compared to my previous bombed 96.

Exhaust brake is still on order

Waiting for the aftermarket fuel boxes (will be broken in by then):

I had a similar shudder on my auto transmission equipped 03' and I am pretty sure it was the limited slip diff. Same thing as yours, a shudder when accelerating and it seemed more pronounced when accelerating while making a turn. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and took the shop foreman for a spin and he felt it was the lsd also. The foreman contacted chrysler tech and they confirmed this and said these trucks have a tight lsd. I changed the rear end lube to amsoil and that seemed to help.

Seems to be a common problem. Talked to friend that has the same problem. He also said that it seemed to be less noticeable as the miles increased. I really hope so, I would hate to have to fight with the dealer over this. I'm sure that would be one of those problems they would never be able to fix after repeated trips into the shop.

angle of the dangle

i noticed that you guys have long beds so i'm assuming that the new trucks still use a two piece rear shaft with a center carier bearing?,no? if so it sounds like the angle at the bearing was shimed wrong from the factory. had the EXACT same prob with my 01 when installed lift but put the wrong shims on bearing.

have the tech check the angles!!

My truck is a short bed and has a one piece driveshaft. I strongly belive this condition to be the lsd diff. I agree with others that as the miles rack up and the lsd wears in the condition seems to lessen. The new axle uses a different style limited slip that uses gears and little "brake shoes" to provide traction at least that is what they tell me. Anyway, even though the new rearend does not need a friction modifier like the Dana's did when I added the amsoil gear lube it already contained the modifier and it did seem to make an immediate difference. Also this did not affect the lsd at all and while plowing snow in 2WD it locked the wheels much better then my 2001 with a Dana 60 ever did.
