I've recently been having trouble with my shut off solenoid. I would like to find someone who sells pull cables. Either that or someone who has new solenoids that are cheaper than mopar(by a good bit). The whole poppin the hood thing is startin to get old. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

About one third the Mopar price at Cummins. But maybe you do not need a new one. Taking it apart and cleaning the plunger and installing a new boot to keep it clean may be all you need. Got the boot from Larry B for about 30 bucks along with some other goodies that saved the day.

Try cleaning the contacts on both the relays too (which are hanging there sorta above the brake booster). A new relay doesn't cost much, like $19 from Larry B's.

This may be a bit late for you, but I just recently had the same problem. I pulled the solenoid off and cleaned it up (the boot was shot) reassembled (with no boot). Drove for a few days, and still had the same problem (had to lift up the solenoid manually).

The next step was to change the relay on the firewall (65. 00 for part at Lithia). Bingo!! Problem solved. I would definitely try the relay before paying all that money for a solenoid that probably isn't bad. Just my 02 worth.

A $6 relay from Radio Shack will work. It's only 30 amps but does the job. A 70 amp relay is better. It costs about $12. You can get one at any electronics store. The price Dodge charges for this part is just plain larceny.
