Anyone here know if there is such a thing as a shutdown timer, I hate sitting out in the sun waiting for the turbo to cool down before I can go inside and have a cool one too, my brainstorm is that I could turn the ignition switch off, lock the doors and the timer would kill the engine after a couple minutes, with possibly a override button so I could kill the engine immedieately... ...

crazy idea??

I have a IssPro Turbo Temp Monitor that works great. Should work well on a 3G too. Any place that sells IssPro stuff should be able to sell you one.

I have the cooldown timer, not as pretty and refined as the one from Genos but I'm very pleased with it and it does the job for a lot less $$$.

compustar

If your intested in an alarm as well, check out Compustar the web site doesn't have that much info, but remote start and turbo timer are standard with the 2WSS (not an extra add on). A two way pager that tells you what's going on with your truck too.

shutdown timer

Thanks for the info amigos, the one from Geno's looks a little more idiot proof but a bit pricey for a simple task, the other one posted by Buzzer would work, but seems to be pretty low-tech and clunky looking, there must be something idiot proof out there.

I mounted my IssPro Turbo temp monitor completely out of sight. The only thing you see is an kill/overide switch which is nearly out of sight. The wiring is almost exactly the same as a remote start. It took me about a few hours to install it with some other goodies. If you decide to get a remote start be (like the above mentioned Compustar) be sure you go to a good installer - i. e. solder and heatshrink, not butt-splices and tape. Don't forget the extra cost of the transponder key upgrage (if you need it).

WMguire,

Here is a post I made with the detailed hookup for the ISSPro TTM on my '03. A word of caution, though--the wiring seems to have changed, at least in some areas, from the '03 to the '04, so use this as more of a starting place to research the schematics in your own service manual.

TTM Hookup

Just as ben_ak, the over-ride switch is the only thing visible on mine, and you don't even have to think about it--just take out the key, lock the doors, and go.

Cooldown Timer why not standard?

If a cooldown period is so important, why wasn't it installed as part of the engine computer program? If they can make the lights stay on, why not the engine? I wonder if this is just a software shortcoming that DC could engineer.
