For engine shutdown, the owners manual says "stop and go, empty, idle time less than 1 minute"

I did a search, and what I found was with pyro gauges. I don't have one yet.

I usually do a easy coast down when I am going to stop, and I assume that time helps pre cool things down some.

I am wondering what a good general practice is, as the manual range of 1-59 seconds seems vague.

How much total time, or time after rolling to a stop should I wait?

Easiest way is to get a pyro gauge. Sometimes even if I coast down the street the temps will go down but the short distance in my driveway the temps can heat right back up to 500* or so. I'll usually turn it off around 350 -400* depending on how big of a hurry i'm in. Or you could get a "Turbo Timer" and that would make it real easy. The time it takes varies from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes depend on the conditions out side and how the truck has been working.
