Shuting off when warm outside?

Hi Guys, When it gets warm outside my truck will shut off. It doesn't happen all of the time. You will be going along and it starts to lose power. As soon as you push the clutch in it stalls. When you go to restart it,its like it is out of fuel. After about 3 trys it will start. I'm thinking my overflow valve is sticking open. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance. Its a 95 with 5-spd. It has 181000 miles on it. There are no modifications.

Is your fuel shut off solenoid operating properly? I've heard of them sticking on when the ignition is turned off, but not the other way.

The best way to diagnose this problem would be to add a temporary fuel pressure gauge, or a permanent one if you feel like spending more money. Check the archives there is much info on fuel pressure gauges there.

Hi guys, I work the afternoon shift. We had some rain storms come throughlast night. When I left work at midnight it had cooled off to 60 degrees and less humid. The truck started and ran like it always does! I'm going to look at the over flow valve this morning. Thanks for the replys. Jeff

This same thing happened to our 81 Benz about 8 years ago. As long as I kept the pedal down it would run OK but when you let up on the fuel it would die. I thought it was because of the sulfer being removed from the fuel. What ever was wrong must have fixed its self.
Reason also I brought it up was,could this be a BOSCH problem?
I'm still learning.

I just finished with the truck. The spring was at . 450. I stretched it to . 550 and put it back together. I also adjusted the valves while I was at it. It took a little bit of cranking to get it to fire. The truck idles a lot smoother. There were some tight and some loose valves. It's cool out today so I will have to wait till it warm up to see if this helped. Thanks again for the responses. Jeff
