I pulled our 14 ft v nose Disaster Relief Trailer (chain saw team) with my stock (except for Rokk sensor and lift pump converted to in tank unit). 04 2500 4x4 auto 3. 73 CTD (36K) to Buffalo NY from ne SC last week. 2k round trip, indicated 11. 1 mpg. about 13k gross rig weight, 70 mph on interstates 77, 79, and 90. Under light acceleration, the trans wants to stay in high gear and not shift into OD or lockup without lifting accelerator. (Has always done this, but is getting worse). Under firmer acceleration, it works pretty well. Coming home, it was losing speed (as usual) climbing a long West Virginia hill when the turbo gave a little whistle, and truck started gaining speed. Dealer (self -proclaimed best shop in SC) says everything is just lovely. In cooler weather, after about 5 miles, it starts surging and continues until fully warmed up. Trans sometimes does stoopid (beyond stupid) things when cold, like locking the torque up in 3rd gear at less than 30 mph. Any Ideas? Is there a good dealer within 500 miles of NC/SC line on I-95? I would like to do a few things to the truck, but it and dealer shops have worn me down so. If I wanted to fight, I would have joined the marines It has so few miles on it because it sickens me to drive it. I'd rather drive my 88 S-15 GMC with 228K. There is nothing on it my local wrench can't fix and I don't get handed any bull excrement. Mark 31
