14 2500 in Limp Mode

Engine died

I have a 2015 RAM 2500, with chrome power folding towing mirrors. I recently had some jerk cross the double line and he smashed the drivers side mirror. He kept going, and by the time I stopped and turned around he was gone. Long story short I am trying to get a replacement mirror, No luck at Gino’s, Rock Auto had every combination except mine! Anyone replace their mirror? Any suggestions? I know dealer, but trying to avoid their prices! Thanks!

I filled a claim with my INS CO. State Farm. At the time the mirror was $200 and the installation labor was $200. so, the total was $400. You do carry uninsured drivers don’t you? This was the only claim I have made against this truck in 13 years, and my policy cost never went up.

Just a suggestion to consider!

Without a villain (the other driver) I'm guessing any claim made would be against the collision policy. My collision deductible is $500 so a claim of $400 would only count as a black mark on my record. I suggest you hit the online recyclers like https://www.junkyarddog.com/

Not necessarily this depends on how your policy is structured by the insurance company. When I called my agent, he put this against the comprehensive part of my policy since no other damage was done. I payed nothing. Just like when I broke my rear window on my 2001, Chevy SB truck backing up my trailer. This too was placed against the comprehensive part of my policy, no deductible either. But on a side note I have been with STATE FARM for over 40 years with the same agent.

A guy clipped the mirror on the Bay Bridge on my wife's 200 a couple months ago. He did stop (finally) and gave me his insurance info. I made a claim against him on his Geico policy. It is still going on. The estimate was $233 for a used mirror and paint to match/install. I had already purchased a new Mopar mirror for $302 because it took Geico 10 days to respond, and another week to inspect. Now they want me to accept the $233 and go to any body shop for a supplemental quote for the new mirror.
Their commercials may say one thing, but from this experience I would never use them for anything.

Thank You all for your comments. I went to my local RAM dealer, $1,035 plus tax from them! One last try, Amazon, dealer replacement for $235! It fits perfectly, matching the OEM exactly! Last place I would have looked for something like this! I am very pleased with it!
