My driver's side mirror will not adjust side to side (in and out) with the adjustment buttons. I can hear the motor spinning when I hit the buttons and the mirror moves fine up and down. Any suggestions on where to start looking to repair this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

So you must have the tow mirrors that flip up. Seems I saw a thread somewhere where you flip the mirror up to tow mode. Because you still have up/down control, move the mirror "in" all the way so you can see between the mirror and the housing (the vehicle knows when you flip it up). There is a wire clip thing in there that you have to manipulate to get the mirror off. I can't remember if you pinch the ends together or spread them apart. Sorry I'm kinda sketchy on this.

So once the mirror is off what am I looking for? I've seen pictures of the inside and it looks like a black boot covers everything. Anyone taken that off and seen what is under it? Are their four motors, two motors, plastic gears, etc?

I can't believe I'm the only one who has had sideview mirror problems. Noone out there has torn their's apart yet?

Ok, I know you want to look inside. with mirror folded down, with your hand , tilt the glass all the way in toward truck, with a pry stick (like a paint stirrer) pry inward(toward truck) on the glass or just bump it with the heel of your hand and it will move until it bottoms out on the mirror housing. Tilt the glass all the way in opposit direction and push it toward truck, it should come out. There are 5 terminals in the plug in to mirror so there are probably 2 motors, also two wires to the glass if you have heated mirrors. I looked at mine, took it apart as far as I could without hammer, the motor etc. are fastened in there permanently, melted plastic connections so I think replacement of whole mirror is only solution? I replaced mine with Kool View, can't tell any difference from original except price. Good luck. bg

I have a set from my 2005. Make me an offer I can't refuse.

E-mail or pm. I'm in Northern CA also. In the red part of the state.

Sorry Blu-Meanie, just saw your post. Mine started working right after this post. Must of set something back on track with the moving of the mirror back and forth.

I need a drive side powered, heated tow mirror for my 2005 if anybody has a spare laying around. I hammered mine today backing up a trailer - tight quarters.

Thanks,
D.
