Is anybody having trouble with the stock BFG sidewalls? I have a little less than 30k miles on mine and the passenger sides have checked quite a bit. I even have some chunks out that leave white exposed. It looks like rub from curbs. The drivers side haven't done it and I have only rotated front to back. I had planned on changing them out next fall, but might have to spend the money sooner. I've been running 58psi front and 55psi rear.

I didn’t have any problems with mine in that regard. What I did see the other day was a H2 with a tire that had completely separated. The tire tread was intact and like new but the WHOLE sidewall was wasted. The tire had complete sidewall failure. I wish I had a pic to show because I have never seen a tire fail like this. If your tires are starting to have problems, get rid of them, it’s not worth taking the chance.

Not sure how deep the scrapes are on your sidewalls, but if it's any consolation, I sliced mine up in a similar manner while in Baja early last year. Some cuts and slices, and lots of white showing. Since then I've gone about 40k on them. I picked up a set of the 18" Weld wheels from KORE and some Toyo's which I love off road. But I'm running the BFG's until they finally wear out. I just broke the 72k mile mark today and there is still a lot of tread left. I won't tow or go on long trips with them, but for daily driving I hope they last a bit longer. It gives me time to shop around for a replacement set. It's certainly a good idea to replace them, but hope this helps.

quit hitting curbs

Hey, it's a 3/4 ton 4X4. What's a little curb to it? :D

I don't regularly hit curbs, but where I live all the entrances to driveways are those sloped, semi-curbs.

I have done a little off-roading also while elk hunting. Slid down a hill backwards with the brake on just two weeks ago when I lost traction. I didn't know my mirrors folded forward until I met up with a cedar tree whild sliding backwards. Nice feature  Decided to put chains on all 4 tires. Nice big ice and snow covered rock ledges to climb over after I got up the hill.

Thanks for the advice. I do need something with some better traction for those off-road times. I heard a rumor somewhere about 285 TA/KO in a 17" E rated tire coming soon. I sure hope that's true. I would buy them in a minute.
