I was considering a set of Sindwinder steps for my truck. They seem too good to be true - only there when you need them, reasonable price, very high "cool" factor. Anyone have them? How well do they hold up? How easy/difficult was installation? Thanks in advance.

I have them on my truck and love them. I bought the Mopar set and had the dealer install them. They charged me $100 bucks a step to put them on. The only reason I bought the Mopar steps (they are Kodiak Sidewinders) was that when you buy Mopar products and have the dealer install them when you buy a new vehicle, they are covered under the vehicles warranty and I bought an extended warranty. You can see some pics of them on my truck in the readers rigs, album JDs 03 3500.

I've got a pair (of Kodiaks, not Mopars) sitting in my basement, they've been there since January waiting for me to put them on. I know that means I don't have a lot to say about them yet, but they sure are built well. I can't wait to have time and the good weather to install them.

I have had my Kodiaks steps on for approx 6 months and they are great! They really made it an easy sell to the wife to put the 2" skyjacker and 35" tires on thr truck. Installation is fairly straightforeward but a little time consuming if you take your time and make everything just right but it is well worth the effort.

I would recommend them

After getting the first one installed, the second was a breeze. Now everyone can get into the truck from my mother to my 7 year old. Both of them had difficulty before the steps.

Curious to know whether or not they help the person entering the back seat of a quad cab or do I need 4 of 'em?

I would also like to see some pictures of member's trucks that use them if available. Thanks in advance.

The steps swing too far forward to help the rear seat passengers. They make steps to fit the rear of the quad cabs. I would only need a step for the rear right side as nobody climbs in the rear driver side door. The fact is I only have one step on the passenger side, I never bought one for the drivers side, I'm unbalanced. :(

will these work if you already have a set of the tube steps?

I have been thinking about getting one for the passenger side with the long arm kit since my truck rides a little high.

If it will work with the bars I have now that would be great. it would be the same as having two steps to help the ladies into the truck.

another question...

How fast do these steps extend? Do you have to wait for them to come down or are they there as soon as the door is opened?
