Maybe this could be a sticky for this section.

I am looking for input here on the most common symptoms related to injector and or solenoid failures on the CR engine.

From all I read the symptoms can be extermely subtle to very obvious sometimes.

Lets see the info. There are many many injector threads so maybe we could get one as a sticky.

ive had injector failures 2 times. both times cranking times to start (cold or hot) got longer and longer then finnaly a no start . both times over about 1500-2000mi from start to finish, but both times were seating issues(bypassing to return) never lost a solinoid.

just had solenoid failure on #6, slight stumble the day before, cold start that AM and ran fine till it failed then now power no strange noise other than u could tell it wasn`t bangin all 6 of em.

Ok I'll bring this back up. I have a miss right now and I'm beating my head on the wall trying to figure out what its going on with it and how to pin point what it is and get it fix and over with

I had the solenoid go out on #3 at ~120k miles.

Fastest way I've read on this forum to track down which one it is (from SAG2), is to get the Miller Special Tool 9011, disconnect a line on the common rail and cap the port off with the #9011. Run it.

1. ) Does it run the same or does the miss go away, then this is the injector.

or

2. ) Does it run worse, then it is not this injector. Remove cap and reconnect line. Move cap to the next port on the common rail and test it.

Repeat until you find the bad one.

I did it the hard way and worked completely through the service manual troubleshooting flow chart.

Keep the #9011 handy in your glove box, in a small ziplock, for use blocking off a port if you ever crack a high pressure line from the common rail to a connector body out in the middle of nowhere.
