I have a chirp (sounds like squeaky rubber) coming from under the truck. It does it at idle when moving and speeds up until I can't hear it over the engine. If I put the truck in neutral it stops even though the truck is still moving forward. No clunks but I do have a slight shudder at take off. U joints have been recently replaced. Is this a sign of a bad carrier on the drive shaft? 2006 3500 Mega.

AMink, since you have an RV, I figure you have a IR gun. Try riding for a bit, then "zap" the carrier bearing and U joints and see if that gives you any hints. I had a carrier bearing go bad on my 88 S15 GMC that made 2 dealers, a good independent shop, and me look foolish before we found it! I forgot how we ever "stumbled" on it!

Your carrier will fail long before it tells you anything. Mine was silent, but I wold get a vibration at 18-22 mph while accelerating. Just grab it and give it a good shove up and down. If it moves more than 1/8 inch it is toast.
