Aside from body mods, what is involved in conversion from single to dual rear wheels? Longer wheel studs? What about the front. Is it an adapter that bolts on? There are no wrecked dually's in the wrecking yards that I can look at or I'd just go and compare parts.

6 new wheels, 2 front wheel extension housings (avail at DC) and a bunch of lugnuts.

edit: you don't really need 6 wheels (if you only do the rears), but it saves on carrying 2 spares; and go find a factory service manual to look at the parts needed.

An option would be to find someone who has a dooley and wants to convert to SRW.

DRW rear axle is wider than SRW rear . Had a friend converter his daully to a SRW , did the bedswap and all and the truck looks awkward due to the original dually rear end being wider .

If you have a flat bed its not noticeable. Its more trouble than its worth. :D

I agree. More trouble than it's worth, unless you want to carry an extremely heavy load all the time or tow a fifth wheel or gooseneck with a lot of pin weight.

Really? How much wider? I had considered this swap a while ago; glad I didn't jump on the conversion too quick.

Can't recall the differnce in width .

I believe it was approx 4-5' which doesnt sound like much at only 2. 5 " per side ,but i tell you its real obvious to the eye with a regular bed.

I am tryng to find a pic to post so you can see for your selves.

Spend yuor hard earned $ on upgrades or something else. ;)

Changing from a drw to a srw is a lot easier than vice versa. The dually axle is wider to accomadate for 2 wheels, dont think the srw hub is long enough. Have pics in my readers rigs gallery
