Silencer Ring Purpose

In my estimation the silencer ring has to create more resistance in the turbo. It tries to funnel the air flow to the center of the fins while the fins are trying to force the air flow to the outside of the housing. so without the ring the turbo would get a more direct air flow with less friction getting a better flow of air. Besides without a muffler and the silencer ring you gotta love the sound!!! Just some food for thought.

all the ring is for is a muffler, thats it. The turbos are called blead air, for that they are a little louder than non blead types but typically have a better low end responce
