The gap in the ring was at teh top of mine also. I used a sharp flat edge screwdriver, nothing fancy, and pryed one end of the ring out of there. Went pretty good, but I could see that with some bad luck or maybe just not exactly the right kind of screwdriver how one would have a he11 of a time.

CAT, I have a drop-in AIR RAID, which increased the whine as much as the X-baffle did.

I don't know, I'm taking it up the mountains this weekend, so I'll know soon enough. I'm hoping it's just the sound that's throwing me off.

I hardly noticed a difference in sound after I took mine out. Just a little bit. Maybe I'll replace the X-baffle, but I'm waiting for someone to come up with a BHAF plan. I'd rather run a big industial air filter than a spray-in like AFE or K&N. I ran the K&N in the 95 with no problem, but do hear dirty stories about them now and then.

Well I got it out this morning here at work. I had to take a good screwdriver and grind it down and it popped right out. I know I made me for the others I took out but I forget where I put it:D
