Okay all you tech heads on here, I've got a good one for you. I love the sound of a loud turbo charger. I found out that by removing the silencing ring from the turbo in my truck, the turbo would sing loud and clear. Well, it makes a very nice sound, but the power feels like it's now lacking. Can anyone explain to me why this is the case?

The reason for the increased sound level is increased turbulence in the turbine intake, but the tiny amount of energy required to produce the sound makes it unlikely that there would be a measurable power loss from that. You might want to check for fuel delivery problems or other causes of low power problems.

The truck runs fine with the silencer ring installed. It feels like there is too much turbo lag with the ring out. I just put the van Aaken in and the truck has mucho power, but it was really weird with the silencer ring out. I may take it back out and run the truck longer till everything is good and warm and see what happens then.
