A few questions about removing the silencer ring,

1. Will it have any effect on the factory warranty?

2. Will it influence performance such as power and milage?

3. Just how loud will it be? (I know thats like asking how far is yonder)

Won't effect warranty unless you screw up the turbo taking it out

If it does rob 5-10 HP, I didn't notice it

and it sings quite a bit more, but not to the obnoxious point

I personally like the way it sounds now when I'm crusin and mash on the skinny pedal a little. I think a bigger open element filter will also make mine louder, but I'm still looking for that.

I don't believe you lose any power whatsoever when removing the silencer ring. It is a Chrysler afterthought item to reduce whistle. Sounds better without it and performs just as well.

I gutted my air intake and removed the silencer. It's not too loud but sure sounds good.

I did the same thing as YaHoot. We used a lathe and cut the baffles out of the intake tube, and ran it, but I couldn't tell any difference in the sound. But after we took the silencer ring out, it really made a difference, and this is with the stock paper filter. I'm sure it'll be louder w/ a larger open element filter.

Yo Hoot are the same Hoot from Diesel Place? If so you have done some real nice writeups over there, look forward to seeing what you do to your new Dodge.

Yea thats' me. Thanks. I like to brag ... uuh, I mean show what I've done.

The intake mod I got from others on the sites. It wasn't my idea.

I cut the flanges out with a Zip router...

Where'd my signature go?

How deep did the zip router reach? I would like to do the same. And your sig only shows on the first post to each thread.

I used one of those piloted bits. They're for routing drywall around electrical outlets. The botom part of the bit is solid metal, no teeth, so it acts like a guide.

Only have to go about 1/4 deep. The flange is only like 1/16" thick.

Can someone help me out? I'm not sure what the "silencer Ring' is. Is that the silencer in-line with the air intake tube? If so I replaced that with an after market piece from Airaid. What throws me is the picture of the turbo, is there a silencer ring there??

It's the shiny think that surrounds the turbo compressor blade. It's held in with a large internal snap ring.
