silencer ring

I have 04. 5. What is silencer ring? Does it effect only sound or mileage / power also? Why remove it?



I am new to this... be gentle.



Also would like best guages to get along with best reccommended chip. Tow large 5th wheel many milesper year.

Any advise?

I just took a ring out sunday for a freind on a 4. 5. Very easy just take the inlet hose off the front of the turbo remove the snap ring with a small flat screw driver remove the ring kinda looks like a big bevald washer. Only thing doing this does is give you a little more turbo sound does nothing for performance. Do a search for box sujestions. I have seen a few things on the site about tst boxes. As far as guages i have ISSPRO white face's. They should go well with the white once in the dash.
