Call me dumb... ... ... but what does installing the Silencer Pipe do? I bought one from Geno's and put it in. Information seemed to indicate that I would hear the turbo. But I can't tell any difference from before, noise or performance hasn't changed? Dealer asked me why I did it? I responded that I wanted to hear the Turbo whine?

I did notice that it was shorter than the plastic pipe that I removed. And it is made well/better..... and appears that the flow through it would be better than the plastic, but... ... .....

Your thoughts.

Dick

I have never heard of installing a silencer pipe before. I have , however, heard of many of the TDR members remove their silencer rings. Removing the silencer ring allows them to hear the turbo sing, but does not do anything for performance though. A search on the subject will tell you quite a bit about it. There are some good pictures in some of the posts to assist you in the process of removing it as well. Try the SEARCH FORUMS, and I think you will be enlightened. Good Luck

Sounds like you may have installed an AFE Torque Tube (fits from airbox to turbo about $90). Gray paint finish with rubber boots on each end. Will increase turbo whine and flow more CFM according to their marketing info. Search on AFE Torque Tube there has been a lot of discussion about it.

No it's not a torque tube, they are entirely different. From what I gather, you are talking about the pipe that comes from Moore powder coatings? It is a piece of pipe that only replaces the factory center section of the air intake piping. The flexible elbows are not replaced like they are with the torque tube
