Just looking at removing my Silencer ring in the turbo, but it sounds like you can't put the original retaining clip back in if you decided to put it back in? I want to be able to put it back in if I ever need engine work done so i do not have any warranty questioning. Is there somewhere you can get a new clip to put back in? ANy help on this subject would be great.

I can't imagine ever wanting to put it back in. Surely to goodness a warranty wouldn't be affected because of such. That ring's sole purpose for being is Dodge trucks. No other implementation of the B Series has them.

If you want another one, I think Rip sells them. Rip Rook at www.SourceAutomotive.biz

Taking mine out was my first BOMB. After about 2 mintues of driving without it, I knew I'd never need it. Chunked it in the trash and went on with my life. :)

This might be a stupid questoin but has anyone had any warranty issues because of no silencer ring? I know for bomb friendly dealers they would just laugh and say they did not know they came with them, but for the rest of us who have to worry every time we go in because we had something as small as a different air filter changed, it is a concern. Thanks again! Oo.

I had my ring out. Had to have the Turbo replaced under warranty because of a cracked turbine housing and there where no questions about the ring missing.

I've had mine in & out about 3 times, now. The retaining clip is pretty sturdy. You should be able to remove it without destroying it, easily. Like you, I re-install the ring for trips to the dealer. Don't want to raise anymore flags than I have to, with them.

The last time I re-installed the clip, I had a little more trouble getting it into its slot. Just make sure it's in, all the way and you should be just fine.

use 2 small screwdrivers to remove it by getting underneath it and GENTLY twisting the screwdriver to pop the ring out. The benefits are a louder turbo noise and whistle, performance wise, it doesnt do anything.

Mines out of warranty but, with respect, are you sure that removing it won't give me anything in performance? Even a teensy little bit??

If I dont get nothing but the sound, sweet as it is I agree, then why bother?

Just asking and no offense intended, I appreciate the advise and I don't want to sound disrespectful.

Thanks

The silencer ring is the shiny part beginning at the mouth of the turbo. You can see the internal snap ring holding it in place.

Here's a closeup of the end of the snap ring. I put the tip of a screwdriver under the end and grabbed it with a pair of needle nose pliers, pulling it towards the center and out.

Just ripped mine out when I installed my oil bypass unit. Silencer in the glove box.

Where did you fit your K5's? Where the spare is? I couldn't find room so I installed K3's.
