WHAT IS THE Silencer ring? WHERE DO YOU FIND IT, AND WHAT DOES IT DO?

it is a metal reducer ring it is just inside the trubo on the airfilter side of the turbo. and it makes the turbo silent pull it out and let the trubo wine

The silencer ring is just that— it can be found inside the service manual holding pages open and therefore SILENCING the sound of flipping pages!! Baby daughter however thinks otherwise—that its a really neat hat.

Yanked my silencer ring out about 6 years ago. Love that sound when the passenger window is down as i shift up through the gears. Best when running high boost.

Silencer Ring Now removed

I thought I had my silencer ring out. After the above post I found out I don't. Seeing those pictures has helped a lot. Mine is now MIA. I have attached my pictures of the parts taken out.

I have been writing for a few years that mine was out. I couldn't find any loose parts. Took me about 5 minutes.

That answered my question as to how difficult and time consuming it is. Knowing my wife, I will only be allowed to have it out for a short period.

And why would you tell her you took it out? I would say it sounds like the motor just got broke in finally

I cut the rest of the muffler off and replaced it with a piece of flex tube. Next time the wife went for a ride I asked her how it sounded and she said quieter than it did with half a muffler:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf Best part is I could only ge tthe tube in 10 ft chunks, I'm ready to do another.



As for th esilencer ring, next time I take the truck to MI I will have to pull it. Friend that helped me move is jelous of th eway my track sounds compared to his duramax
