Has anyone ever had the silencer plate come out and destroy the turbo. I looked for info on the subject in the forums and after scanning for an hour found nothing.

What if any effect on perfomance will i see if i remove the c-ring and plate. If it has no effect on air flow to the turbin fins then i will remove it on the new turbo before i install it today. I guess you know what i will be doing the rest of the night. Please excuse my lack of knowing were to find this info on the site, i'm rather new to TDR.

P. S. love this site

do it....DO IT!!!

Pull that yucky old ring out of there, and leave it on the bench in the shop. Then take it around the block, and if you like it, toss the ring when you get back home.

the is 0 difference in performance with or with out the ring.

Well, I didn't have it destroy the turbo but the ring did fall out. When i went to take the silencer ring out oringinally, I took the intake hose off, and didn't see the ring, well it had fallen off and was stuck in the hose! That was reason enough for me to take it out!!

No need to apologize for not finding what may not be there anyway. I think everybody here still learns something occasionally - that's the beauty of the site. I suppose if the silencer ring was not installed correctly it would be possible for it to fall out. I'm pretty sure a few guys have even dyno'ed with and without silencer ring with no effect. Do be careful removing it because you may want to reinstall it if the turbo music is too high pitched for you.

Welcome to the TDR.

Ed, if you take the hose that goes to your turbo off, the ring is just before the turbo fan, a snsp ring holds it in. A small screwdriver will pop it out.

THANKS FOR THE HELP !

Thanks for your info. My main concern was that the ring would cause any tubulence inside of the turbo and slow the air down. But as i thought about it, there may not be enough positive air flow to matter at the inlet anyway. Anyhow it's added to the box of take

offs sitting in the garage. Got to go know and install this puppy.

THANKS AGAIN

I think I'm going to take mine out. As much as I wish my CTD wasn't so loud (I know, I don't fit in here), I love that whistle.

I took mine out one time and like the sound when my truck is empty. Hook the camper up and :--) too loud for me. Doesen't sound right then. My 2c

Took mine out a week ago. I was expecting something dramatic,

but not the case. It has a little different tone now, (Raspy) better I'd say. That is running empty, I'll have to try it with a load soon.

I have a little HY35

For alll you guys who said it did'nt make it much louder, it's probably because you're using the stock air filter. I put my stocker back in for a little while and it quieted it alot. Put a K&N or BHAF or some other aftermarket filter and, it gets alot louder. With my stock HX35 and my PE COMP (w/out inj. pump wire) it's loud when I want it to be. You really notice how loud it is when you drive along side of a wall, building, etc. Some people that ride with me don't like it, but oh well.

I always roll down my windows when I go through a tunnel. Then hammer the throttle and usually try to get the RPM's to go through the 2,000 range. :D :D :D WOT is wide, open, throttle. BHAF big, honkin, air, filter. I think the second one is right?
