Silencer ring?

I don't know what the silencer ring is. Can someone explain it for me? If it will make the turbo easier to hear then mine HAS to come off. I love the sound of a turbo at full tilt! Can someone explain how to get it off? Are there any risks of screwing something up taking it off? Thanks for the info in advance.

Yes it it does make it louder. I still have mine in but have read how to do it. Take your filter tube of the turbo. Inside there is a snap ring that holds the ring in, take it out. The ring should then come out. I think. lol

Be very careful that you don't damage the impeller blades!!

I used a small 90 degree pick to remove the snap ring. After that the donut style tin ring comes out very easy. While you have the tube off from your turbo its a good time for turbo inspection and tube inspection as well. If you have any problems email me for my phone# I can walk you through it. Takes about 3 minutes. Boy does she sing!!

Removing the silencer ring is the easiest thing you will ever do on your truck. Just be careful. I got the courage up to do it this afternoon and was shocked to find how easy it was. #ad

Well I took mine out for about a month I heard nothing more than I normally do so back on it went. It has been back on for over two months now.

Took mine out and I could hear the turbo more but it felt like I had lost some bottom end so I put it back in. Felt stronger with it in. Sure did like the sound though.

Put the truck under a load, add a K&N air filter and it really sings.
