Still a rookie if I have to ask questions like this, but... . What do you get besides more turbo noise by removing the silencer ring? And what does this critter look like?

More turbo whistle and a big smile! :D

Just take the turbo end of the intake hose off, and you will see it. It is held in by a snap ring.

I've been told that removing the ring doesn't give you any additional power. It's more to sound cool I think. Personally I love the way it sounds. You will get some curious looks from passengers and bystanders when that thing spools. Inside the cab and out that sucker whines.

I found that I gained more turbo whine after I removed the air cleaner snorkle than I did when I just had the ring removed. With just the ring removed I didn't notice much unless I was really on it. Now I get a good whistle with even moderate amounts of throttle.

Mine actaully spooled up quicker after the ring was gone. . And yes i do have gauges to prove it. Mab my waste gate was sticking?
