Does anyone know of a source for silicone boots for the 1st gen trucks with the intercooler? I have the originals on. They seem to be in good shape but I am going to be replacing the turbo housing and I would prefer to upgrade these to some new silicone boots.

TIA

Carl

FYI, the silicone "boots" from PDR (I have them too) are NOT hump hoses like you have on your truck now. They're just straight pieces of silicone hose. It appears to be radiator hose or marine exhaust hose. The hose comes in one piece and you cut it to length. The connections to the intercooler are 5" long and the other two are 4" long. If you want real silicone hump hoses, they are available, but expensive. Here's one place you can get silicone hump hoses..... http://64.225.76.178/catalog/Default.htm

Silicon Boots

I have two questions regarding the silicon hoses. I have all the parts to hook up my intercooler except for the hoses. What are the benifits of the silicon hoses verses the hump hoses or the silicon hump hoses? Do they all work fine or is one type better than another? What are the sizes and lengths of the boots? I have two of the stock ones and don't know if they are all the same or different. Should I clean them befor putting them on (they look a little dirty on the inside) and what should I clean them with? I guess that I had more than two questions

Formula, is there a number for the company that you listed for the silicon hump hoses? I just looked quickly but didn't see any way to contact them to order from. Otherwise I'll order from PDR. They only list the hoses for the '94-'98 trucks but I assume that they also supply them for the first gens.

Thanks for any advise that you guys can pass on,

Dan

The silicone hose that I purchased from PDR is significantly more "stout" than the OEM hump hoses I took off. I really like the new silicone tubing. There are two lengths on the 1st gen trucks - 2 are 4" long and the other two are 5". I purchased an 18" length from PDR and cut it with a utility knife - very easy.

As far as benefits of one over the other, I don't know. I do know that I always suspected the OEM boots, if for no reason other than they were pretty old and soft. I suspect my truck will fall apart before the silicone boots need replacing.

The second link is to the price list. It is unlikely that the hoses will be listed under the make/model/year etc of our trucks. You'll have to specify the length and diameter of the hoses.
