My 2017 Eco had the fuel fill break when it was -30°C the other day. I’m not sure how to fix it exactly but installing fuel filler out of an older truck seems like a better choice.

If you have the piece that broke, get some epoxy, attach it back on, and reinforce the outer area also with epoxy, as per Redneck Engineering Practices of America (REPA).:eek::rolleyes:o_O:D:p. (the stages of a redneck mind at werk)

Sometime ago someone here on TDR had same thing happen to his diesel fuel intake and broke, dealer replace under warranty, yes you will have to visit Ram dealer for this work.:D

BTW the way guys when I posted this on FB no one had a solution. They just told me to wash my truck. It’s nice to be surrounded by witty people whom can solve problems. Thanks! The TDR is the best.

CT,

You're right, a lot of folks don't see a problem as an opportunity or challenge to make it better or at least perform as expected. And, as you mention, it can be fun and funny.

So, hope you share what you decide to do with it... it's almost always interesting to see if a suggestion worked or if it was bettered, however, no problem replacing with a new one.

Cheers, Ron

Not sure if it affects the "sealing" of the tank or in anyway fall under the emissions warranty,.. but on our Deere tractors the emissions warranty covers quite a few things you wouldn't think of. just had a cam sensor and ECM replaced on a tractor that was 2yr out of warranty since it was emissions related :rolleyes: Worth a phone call or visit for sure.

Mine broke a while back so I stopped in the dealer last week and had them order a new one. I'm almost at 34k so I need to get in and have them replace it before it goes out of warranty.

I spoke with Bob who makes the aluminum insert. Good guy, would fit in around here. He’s looking into how to make them for less $ so he can sell them. Preventative fix or a repair for those that have failed.

I saw one of these things recently on a friend's truck. Looks like a great way for dirt and water to get into your fuel tank. I am glad my 4500 has regular fuel filler caps.
