I ventured out to Michigan this past weekend and visited the Silver Lake Dunes in my truck ('02 Dodge QC, H. O. ). It didn't have any problems on the dunes at all, climbed everything in third gear.

After my first run through, I stopped to check the truck out and noticed oil leaking out of the grill  A brief inspection under the showed that oil had been blown about the engine compartment and the dipstick was right at the Add/Safe line. It stayed there the entire weekend. I'm assuming this is from the descents, I'm also guessing it might be coming from the little pill bottle on the front of the engine. Is there a way to cure this? Maybe relocate the bottle?

Thanks

Jeremy

The only way to cure what happened to you that I know of is the Walker Airsep, it makes the crankcase breather basically a closed loop system as far as oil is concerned. You dumped the oil on a steep decent, it is a common trait to 24V engines. Take the pill bottle off and extend the hose down, it will reduce the mess of this type of thing to nothing. Oh, and take some oil with you next time:D .

Jeremy, check out the new issue of the TDR(issue#36), on page 70. There is a Technical Service Bulletin listed(The number has yet to be determined) that addresses your problem. The TSB states that there is a kit that relocates the engine breather from the front of the engine to a new location on the driver's side tappet cover. Hope this helps.

I don't suppose someone could find that TSB for me, I can't seem to find my latest copy of the magazine. Thanks in Advance

It took me about 9. 5 to 10 hours, I stopped in milwaukee and picked up a friend and broke the trip up into 2 days on the way their.

It wasn't busy at all, no vouchers, no noise checks, no waiting to get in. It was nice friday, saturday kind of sucked due to freezing rain on the dunes in the afternoon.

Interesting to see a couple of powerstrokes struggling to get up test hill. Heck none of them seemed to be a problem for my truck, it was almost like cheating :D
