Wanting to put a set of stacks on my single cab pickup 98 12 valve.

I have owned 2 trucks with stacks one an extended cab the other a crew cab. But never a single cab... . Im a tad bit worried that it will be to loud in the cab verses having the noise further back with the other cab configurations I have had.

Does anyone have experience with stacks on a single cab? Is it noticeable louder than extended or 4 door trucks?

it depends on if you plan on having your windows open. its really loud with the slider open. i still love the whistle. just do it,and get a very loud stereo. thanks

If you are real worried about the sound, you could add a muffler under the cab. I've heard stacks can have a drone at certain speeds also, so this might help with that. But seeing you've had stacks before, I may not be telling you anything you don't know already.

I had a 7" bullhorn in my single cab. WAY too loud for me. Couldn't hear myself talking inside the cab. This was straight piped. I now run a muffler and that same 7" bullhorn dumper under the bumper.

yes, it will be loud, and if you can find a muffler to put under the cab that doesn't resonate WORSE than straight pipe, let me know... I tried 4 or 5 different setups on my 97 single cab... the straight pipe actually resonated the LEAST, but it was still pretty rowdy.

the one thing that I didn't try but I've considered since is a muffler with the inlet and outlet at the same end... Kenworth style... that would allow the resonance from the muffler body to radiate past the cab vs. coming up through the floor. those mufflers aren't cheap though :(

my stock system looks really crazy! It looks to be what 3" maybe 3. 5" at most from turbo to muffler. 3-5" before the muffler it goes to 4" and the the outlet looks to be 3- 3. 5" all the way to a 3. 5" straight cut tip. I don't know who put this on there but its not completely stock! The muffler is stamped with a dodge logo I know that much.

stock 94-97 exhaust systems were 3" downpipe, catalytic converter, 4" pipe between the cat and muffler, then 3" tailpipe with the last bit being a 4" 's' curve that's straight cut at the end

that sounds about par for the course, my `94 had the exact same setup stock, except without the cat because it was made in the end of 93, but the exact same random sizes otherwise, I ended up going 3" all the way back and have had my windows open ever since, but I think yours probably is stock as you described it
