i'm in need of a fueling system and was wanting to just stay with a one pump set up but i haven't really heard of any good ones. any body running the advance diesel set up with the pe 4200? what's your views on a pusher system vs. one pump?:-{}

I'd be curious as well. When mine goes I was looking at the PE 4200 as well. I noticed Smokin Diesel sells these as a replacement pump. Anyone that has these how hard was the install for this pump?

The pusher setups are proven systems. Many members have logged tens of thousands of trouble free miles on them. The installs seem straight forward and many here can give you a ton of advise on assembly and use. Plus, you dont have to modify the fuel system much... maybe just add some hi-flo banjo bolts and you'd probably be set. Inexpensive too as the pusher Carter 7psi pump is available for under $100. And you dont really need aircraft fittings to make it work well.

The PE pumps seem to be about the best single pump going right now. They are expensive and you'd probably want to upgrade the fuel lines with them... at least I'd want to. Plus they have a great warranty and the company seems to stand behind them. In fact I believe they are aware many Cummins truck owners are using them for a diesel application... something alot of pump companies will recommend against for their own products.

I'm a fan of a single stock OEM Carter pump... with a little system re-engineering of course:) . I'm working on my system currently and plan on posting some of my findings and results. Why dont I just go with a pusher or PE you may ask?? Sometimes I just like trying to do the impossible:D

I'm mainly stock (for now), but I moved my OEM Carter down to the frame by the tank, did the AN-6 from the tank line as it comes over the frame, to a inline filter, to the repositioned OEM, then on to the filter input, AN-6 from the filter output to the VP44. Extended the LP wiring with a Cummins pigtail with a 5' splice of marine grade wire (better corrosion resistance) and put that in a 1/4" wire loom. Glad I did that when I changed the transmission hot line a loose fitting sprayed ATF everywhere down there, but the wires were protected.

I am very happy with mine. The fittings were a little pricy though. One of the things I like best is I can hear the LP on startup, at stop lights, and up to about 30mph. It is a nice little comforting whine as an audio check it is running. Doesn't mean it is pumping of course, gauges for that.

get rid of the carter OEM

i went through 3 of them i 6k miles. i had single stock pump that went bad, then a pusher set up that both carter pumps eventually went bad as well. these carter pumps are not made for the continious duty that is required for our trucks (my opinion) i finally went with the PE4200 from ADT (smokin diesel) and it has worked great so far. the problem is it is loud. sitting at a stop light or an idle it is very noticalble, but cruising it is not. it looks like a quality made unit (better be for the price) but at this point i would rather spend the extra $$$ instead of putting a new pump on every 6k miles. ya get what ya pay for... and alot of other people are going to a bigger single pusher instead of a dual set-up.

just my thoughts and experiences... call me disgruntled if ya want

i'm also interested in fuel pressures at wot. the stock lift pump right now at wot gets down to about 3lbs. i'm trying to keep my foot out of it right now until i get a fuel system and i'm just trying to figure out the best set up. so if you could also include some pressures. :D

I have a single stock pump relocated to the framerail. I'm very happy with the setup. The pusher pump setups seem to be doing a good job as well. I think personal preference should be the deciding factor.
