JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS USED THE SUPER "B" TURBO ON THEIR VE 12 VALVE MOTOR. AFTER I GET MY WIRING PROBLEMS FINISHED I AM GOING TO O-RING/STUD MY HEAD ATS IT AND GO WITH THIS TURBO. RIGHT NOW I HAVE A HX-35/12 THAT CAN BUILD 50LBS OF BOOST PRETTY QUICK, BUT IT IS 50LBS OF HOT COMPRESSED AIR. I THINK I HAVE ENOUGH FUEL CAUSE I CAN STOP TRAFFIC WHEN I TAKE OFF :-laf ! BUT I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH LOW END I WILL LOSE. IF ANYONE HAS TRIED A DIFFERENT TURBO LET ME KNOW.

With a manual transmission, it'll be a super lag pig unless you can attatch a smaller w/g housing to it. There are some members who have one large turbo and I believe they have fuel supplied by the P7100. They make good streetable power.

I believe you have the idea correct... . boost means little. You need lots of flow. I could have me 60 psi if'n I attatched a small housing to mine.

Check out the HTT web site and you'll gain all the info you'd want. They are very helpful too if you'd have questions. BTW they built my turbo in a matter of hours as opposed to waiting d-a-y-s. They stress cool air flow not high boost #'s and excessive smoke with high egt's.

One thing I had to learn from making the switch from pulling tractors to trucks is "Drivability"

Yeah, POD's with an HX35/12 and pump maxed will get a little hot. The HX35 is good for 30 psi stock and around 40 with a bigger pinwheel but 50 is out of its range. Along with hot air your drive pressures are probably way high also. HTT makes some good turbos but like everything else it depends on the housing and your fueling. The Killer B seems to work well with the smaller housings but it the drive pressures start effecting its efficiency.

Your best bet is to call the turbo guys and tell them what you have and want and match it to your setup. The compressor is only one part of the equation. If the rest of the pieces don't match it won't work well. Call HTT, Piers, and JR Adkins and get a couple of opinions about what would be best.

IMHO the Super B would be a good choice of a turbo. Although it is not, it could best be compare to an HX40/14. IMHO it will not be a lag pig and and from the trucks I have driven the built autos are usually laggier than a manual.

single turbo

I really do not want a super fast truck that I take to the track. Tried that and everytime I come home with something broke. I want to start the dyno race thing. I own a custom flatbed shop a would like this first gen to be my show case for the customers. And it would nice to show the horsepower/torque ratings on it. I would like to be a part of the 500+ club with Stomp. So I can live with a little lag. What do most of you guys run.

I ran a Piers HX40/16 on mine for about a year or so. I also used it in my twin set up. It worked fine and I didn't have a problem spooling it. I do live on the coast so there really isn't any elevation here, but I took it up to Oregon and at 4000-5000 ft above sea level it still spooled fine. Yes there was a bit more smoke, but it wasn't that bad. If you are going to try to get 500hp on a single turbo you will deffinatly have a lag issue. I don't think the 40 will keep it cool enough. At 420hp I could still hit 1700*+. That is why I went to twins. You have the spool up of a single and the extra air of the big turbo. The best of both worlds really. That is just my 2cts worth. Let us know what you decide on. Also if you are going to run at the higher boost levels you will want to get the head o-ringed and studded.

The super B is a sweet single but it won't support your 500 HP it will drop off at 425HP it doe's spool as fast as a stock turbo though and for the money it can't be beat. There is one located in the vendor promotions

Thanks for the two cents guys. I just sold my hx-35 today so I am in the process of ordering the new super "b". I will let you guys know what it improved, I dynoed the hx-35 at 325/873 two weeks ago. I am going to take my head off as soon as I find a shop that can o-ring my head, and while I have it off I'm going with the 3200 rpm kit, ats manitfold, 60lb valve springs, and 14mm stud kit. If I like the preformance out of the super "b" I will try it on the top turbo for my set later on. :-laf :-laf
