Stealth Modules are rebadged Dr Performance, which I have one and like it. There is a thread in the 4th Gen forum with Stealth in the header and I have one active Pedal Delay Gone-Great Increased Performance. Price not bad either. Ron

I'm glad you in particular chimed in. I was reading that thread and didn't want to hijack it. How long have you had yours? Is there any risk of possible truck damage based on WHATEVER the modules do?

I like mine so far, but haven't tested it towing. I spoke with a Dr Performance tech about any problems. In a p/u with the 68RFE, I would follow instructions mostly for if towing: 30 HP heavy towing, 60 HP med towing/mileage; 90HP solo performance. No worries for Aisin. Other than that, I think it's pretty low risk and pretty good low/mid level upgrade. Ron

Yeah i don't often tow, was moreso wanting it for the minimal MPG increase and the power. How long have you had yours?

yep check that other stealth ref I gave you.... he chimed in on my thread also. BTW, don't worry about posting in my thread... the more the better. Just honest exchange of info related to these plug and play performance modules.

If it does not void warranty why when looking at it on the web does it tell you to remove it before taking the truck to a dealer for service or updates.

What will Changing timing, fuel rail pressure and what ever else do to emission equipment.

Right from the horses mouth. We can’t tell what was used but we CAN tell if there was something. If so they WILL void the warranty. They simply are tired of paying out on trucks with mods.

Worth taking the risk? That is what needs to be decided.

I think the factory warranty is about the integrity of the truck owner. If you add an upgrade, be honest enough to own up to it. I've never removed any of my performance upgrades on any of my trucks when having them serviced or having warranty work done, unless the dealer asks me to. I ask the dealer if there are any flashes and if so, I will remove it to facilitate it. So that's my rant on this.

Ron

Since your truck is out of warranty if this is the same one we were discussing in your other threads. I would not worry about what is stated by others. Now as to why the manufacture is suggesting that you remove the plug in module, is as suggested to facilitate the dealer service people and to make sure that you get this back. Also the updates could overwrite your software and cause issues if this has not been removed first.

I know that the Smarty states for you to return the truck to the original factory programing before installing any updates from the factory. You can than reinstall the Smarty programing after updating the factory software with no issues. Since 2010 I have only been to a dealer three times all for factory recalls for airbags and steering linkage. Anything else I have ignored.

Now on my truck the dealer can not access the OBD II port without my permission. I have this port locked an you need a key to remove the cover. So, I do not worry about FAC or the dealer adding anything to the truck ECM without my knowledge.

Hopefully you don't have a situation like a blown head gasket or??? When a regional warranty Rep like the retired Stan Gozzi shows up and looks into the computer and says from the evidence found there has been some sort of performance enhancement on here and says "VOID" just remember "I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION"

Ron this is not about you it's to show anybody that has a Factory Warranty what can and WILL happen as the dealer that does not care what programmer you have will NOT step up and pay for the repairs when the Rep says "DENIED".

Ron,
No offense taken, we're saying the same thing.

Jim,
You're right too. The truck has to be stock program in many cases. Just helping others who read this understand if they're still in warranty they modify at their iuiown risk AND be honest about it. These are smart trucks that tell a story. Have fun. Ron

I appreciate all of the feedback you've all given, it really shows me that a community of members can have different perspectives and still respect one another.

On a non-ranting note, I have no intentions on hiding aftermarket work done and assumed the need to remove the module was to prevent overwriting to the Stealth module, rather than hiding something I've done. The CJDR dealer by me has always told me they don't care about aftermarket parts when it comes to warranty IF the aftermarket work is not related to the warranty repairs. For example, if I have a cracked rotor that was just replaced... they aren't going to care whether I have an air intake or not. However, I'm sure there is SOMEONE out there that will try and make an argument that an intake causes increase in power, which causes greater acceleration, which causes greater stopping force needed, thus damaging the rotor, blah blah... I don't know.

As a closing remark, I've installed this module and not had any issues thus far. I can definitely notice some more "power in the pedal".

jgruberman, I've been running mine on the 90 HP setting, pretty lively driving in traffic and around local area. I just filled up, 74 gallons to top off, and read 9.6 MPG. Had some RV trips and towing the 20' enclosed car hauler with my compact tractor. For me, I usually see minimal MPG improvements as I adjust driving style to additional power. I count success as any gains in MPG and not losing MPG. I decided to not take the RV out just to see how this module performs, so may be a while to see impact on that. I have about 80 miles on this tank and will put a few more before on it before filling up and hand calculating. I may try the 60 HP setting then just to perform a nominal comparison. I doubt I'll do anything with the 30 HP setting.

Anyway, I look forward to hearing about your experience as you rack up miles and various driving conditions.

good luck and have a Merry Christmas!

I called and spoke with the guys at Stealth Modules just because I had some generic questions and he advised me that they recommend keeping the settings in Medium because the High places heavy demand on the fuel system. I told him that I don't do any major towing and would like to get the best performance possible. He still alluded to using the Medium setting, as the instructions also say to use that setting(I'm sure you know that since you have the same instructions I do Wiredawg). So I have it set on Medium currently and there have been some times where I needed to quickly accelerate to get into traffic and there was a good deal of power behind the pedal in my opinion. I'm happy so far, but will wait for a few tanks of gas to decide overall happiness with it. So far, so good.

Have a Merry Christmas also @Wiredawg, hope to hear from you and your experiences with this again come the new year!

last comment for now: I have to remind myself this is not a Smarty so the 90 HP I ran all the time on my 09 4500 with the Smarty on level 5 was doing a total management of the engines components and emissions. And my previous experience with the Edge Tow Pro on 2nd and 3rd Gen trucks were 65HP max. So glad you shared discussion with tech. So, I'm turning mine down now to med (60 HP). Thanks! talk atcha after the New Year!
