I lost my ability to receive Sirius and it's driving me nuts! (short trip, I know... ) ;) I have called Sirius and my account is in good shape, but my radio won't activate (or reactivate, in this case). Sirius said that I need to take it to the Dealer. Like most here, I HATE to go to the dealer...

Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone upgraded their factory radio and would be willing to sell me their old stock unit? I have the Infinity system with six 6 CD changer and Sirius.

Thanks

Is it coming on and just playing channel 184???

If so, have you tried sending a new download from the big bird in the sky??

All features work except the Sirius, which won't change from channel 184 (or 188?). I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with a Sirius technical service person and they tried to link up 3 or 4 different times, but my radio would never receive the signal. She had me do a certain sequence of things (open door for 30 seconds, turn on radio, push two buttons simultaneously, and tap dance to the minute waltz), all to no avail. The truck is out of warranty, so I'm not going to the dealer to have it fixed. I'll either 1) buy a used stock unit (preferred), or 2) buy an aftermarket radio.

Just trying to go over the basics with you so bear with me. Did they have you check the ESN of the receiver to make sure that the download went to the correct radio??? Did they tell you to make sure that the truck was outside with the radio tuned to channel 184 and key on???

I have had Sirius ever since it first came out and have seen the darn download come in faster then you can get to the vehicle if you have not left it on and ready.

Do you know that you can do the download yourself from the website, you don't need the techs for that now.

Just asking a few questions before you condemn the radio. If the questions have already been asked I apologize. Only trying to help.

Just went surfing and a very important question seems to be this "Can you hear channel 184 or is there no volume?"

All of your questions are good ones, and I believe in being thorough, so we're on the same page.

Yes, I was in a clear zone (not many trees or buildings here in the desert). Also, I was sitting in the truck with the key on. I can here the ad playing on ch 184, but the darn thing won't change channels. She sent the signal out three different times, allowing about 7 minutes each time. I got to know the gal pretty well... lives in Indiana I think...

She told me about loggin in online and sending out the signal myself, although I haven't tried it. I may give it another try before I scrap the unit.

thanks

Have been surfing as I get a minute and some people say that the download can take a couple of hours or more.

Just logged onto my Sirius account to refresh my memory about the download.

Go to Sirius.com, log in to "my account", then after you are logged in go down to the bottom of the page and click on the ESN for your radio. Then in the next screen select the 3rd choice down which is "RESEND ACTIVATION SIGNAL". If you still have volume on 184 I would resend that signal a few times and see what you get. Double check your ESN as that could be causing you trouble with downloading as well.

Some Sirius units have a reset feature but can't find where the Dodge Radios have that. Let me know how you make out.

Mine quit working also. I called them and they supposedly did the download magic, this and that. Then they said you are going to have to go to the dealer. I was at work and was not happy about a dealer visit. Went to leave work and go home that day and thought I would just switch over to see if it worked and low and behold everything was normal. I was even sitting in my truck when I called them and was going through the download thing with them. I really did not think they knew what they were doing.

I had a problem with my sirius and it was the receiver, had to replace the receiver with a new model, the older models are being replaced by sirius and it may be that sirius is turning off the signal. I would have gone to a different supplier but there really is noone out there. I am happy now but it costs money.

Problem Resolved!

Well, it took a while, but it's working now. I tried all the suggestions posted here and elsewhere to no avail...

I resent the activiation signal from Sirius.com numerous times and no success. I was just about ready to take the truck in to the dealer  and decided I'd give Sirius one more call. The guy at Sirius resent the activation numerous times, but the radio would not update. He had me go through a sequence of things: 1) turn off radio; 2) turn off vehicle; 3) remove key; 4) open door and leave open for 30 seconds; 5) reverse the process...

After all this, the radio still would not update. He then asked me to identify the radio's ESN. This is done by turning the radio off, and pushing the "Time" and "Load" buttons simultaneously for three seconds. The 12-digit ESN showed up on the display. After this we tried to resend the activation signal. Five minutes later, no luck.

He then tried to remove or cancel my ESN number. The audio went off. nada. zilch. I thought, "now you've done it. " After this, he sent the same number from the SAT. My radio flashed "updating" for about 1/2 second and the audio came back on. Hmmmm... At least my radio had some function.

After this, he then resent the activiation signal again. This time, it updated and all channels are back to normal.

The guy was very bright, courteous, and knew what he was doing. It took about 40 minutes on the phone to get this done, but he never gave up, and kept trying new things until the problem was solved. My hat's off to him for "staying hooked" long enough to get to the bottom of this problem.

Glad to hear that you found a tech that knew what he was doing. They are becoming hard to find.

I know that once you have the Sirius radio you can't go back to the FM stuff. It just doesn't cut it.

It sounds like he rebooted your radio by clearing and resending the ESN. Nice stuff to know about.

I went through this same prob with both my 06 and 08. The head unit would not allow me to change the station. The sirius receiver is a seperate unit located behind the glove box. Both times the dealer replaced the radio instead of ordering the sirius unit and failed to solve the prob. New sirius receiver and everything was fine.
