If it's like my son's '05, it's located on the rear of the cab. It's a black unit right next to the rear cab bed/brake light...

So on the back side of the cab or on top of the cab? The reason I am asking is I am getting the truck to carry a camper and was wondering if I would have a clearance issue. I've noticed the GM trucks have a pretty big antenna on top of their cabs which I am guessing is for onstar.

Yes on top, However I'm not sure of the strength of your signal or if your would even get one if you cover the unit up

Ugh, I hadn't thought of that. I was looking forward to listening to it on those long rode trips. Guess that will be another issue to figure out. Since you told me where to look I checked out some pics on ebay and see that it is a pretty short little black bubble sitting right above the brake light on top. So I don't think it will be a clearance issue, but yeah I imagine the reception won't be any good with a fullsize camper sitting over it. :{

Well I can imagine that some vendor has come up with a solution for that very situation, it's just a matter of who.....

I brought this up a couple weeks ago. I am being told the antenna connection to the sirius module is the same connector aftermarket sirius receivers use. I have a couple antennas so I will run one on top of my camper or out on the hood while using the slidin camper.

Ken,

Here's some photo images of the factory installed SIRIUS antenna on my rig . . . click HERE and HERE

It's about the size of a cab clearance light, don't know if it would necessarily interfere with a slide-in camper.

Sorry, but for the life of me, I can't figure how to post the picture itself onto this message . . . musta've taken a stupid pill this morning

A little off topic, but close... the SIRIUS channel that has the Old Time radio shows, are they the original shows or remakes? Like: The Lone Ranger... The Shadow... and the like... I've got XM, but am switching to SIRIUS, I hope the old radio is the same as that's mostly what I listen to on the road.

Hi Guys,

The antenna needs a clear view of the sky to recieve a signal if running on Satalite mode. You might pick up a signal if running on Terrestrial mode (using ground based antennas--used in cities to allow signal between buildings. This is done automatically by the radio based on available signal(s). I would recommend relocating the antenna if you are going to use a slide in, possibly installing one on top of the camper but then you will have to get behind the dash to swap the anntenas--can get old real quick! Good luck!

Truckstom - They sure sound like the authentic old shows to me, even down to the old commercials.

GOOD, I was banking on it, since I already bought one from their website. Thanks for the reply.

What channel is that? I just got my Sirius activated today and absolutely love it. Its taking some time to get used to the system and my model radio, but I LOVE IT!!!

Can you confirm this firsthand? I have been researching a new DVD tuner for the truck and I have the factory Sirius antenna. I am being told that the connector is not the same and most likely cannot be modifed. This is per 3 different stereo stores. It would be nice if they were wrong though.

For the original poster, I'd think about deleting the factory Sirius if you can. There is a good sized hole in the roof for that antenna. If you have to remove that for the slide in, then you are stuck trying to figure how to plug the hole. My factory radio does not display the artist info or song title either.

I just hooked up a Sirius Radio - Xact Visor - I am happy as hell with this. I also have the 'home' set up to use it in my shop. I was so sick of all the commercials and don't have time to shop for CD's - even if I wanted.

If any of you are not CD investors but want to listen to what you want to listen to - when you want (at least the type of music your in the mood for) this is a sweet set up.

Being a 2nd Gen there isn't provisions so my reciever went on suction cups in upper left hand of windshield and the antenna cable runs out of door jamb and up inside rubber windshield trim on pillar. Antenna attached to cab corner as soon as the cable exits corner of windshield rubber.

I like it so much I'm going to send some money to my brokerage and buy some stock. There are 2. 2M listeners now and supposedly 16M by 2010.

Eric: I felt the same way when I took delivery of my 04. 5 with the dealer installed Sirius. I felt like I just bought a $33,000 satelliite radio system and got a 1 ton diesel truck for $250. My trip home from the dealer was 900 miles (Denver to Tucson) and I listened to it the whole way.
