I am a new member and looking for persons that are interested in sharing information about their 2001 Dodge with the engine and the 6 speed transmission. I met a TDR member in Pagosa Springs a few weeks ago and he told me about Cummins filter deals, any help!

Welcome

There is a lot of great info out here for the asking.

Geno's offers a fleetguard package that is not priced to bad.

If you buy your filters by the case you can save that way to at cummins. Good luck

Welcome aboard, Matey! Just ask anyone around here, someone is bound to help out.

Good choice on the the 6 speed. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask. :)

Welcome to the Forum! It's a good idea to practice with the Search function a little. There is enough information here to keep you reading for weeks! :) Have Fun... ... .

Iam loking at a 2001 with six speed and 4. 10 rear. I pull a small camper trailier, but most of the time it will be around town driving. Any input good or bad

Welcome THubbard, I have a 2001 4x4 w/4. 10s. I bought my truck w/4. 10s knowing that I would be running 35" tall tires. My recalculated gear ratio is now 3. 74. This makes it nice to drive around town and cruising at freeway speeds. I had 3. 54s in my '95 Cummins 4x4 and they were fine with 285/75R16. The 6sp is awesome compared to my '95 with the 5sp, around town it was allways between a gear. Now with the 6sp I shift so much less :) . Ask away. Sam

Dreif, the ETH/DEE with the 4:10's is the only way to go!! Will pull anything you hook it to. Now just be sure to get the 1 ton and not one of those little 2500's:D:D:D... ... ..... Pete

Pete, I hope I don't rain on your parade... . I mean Your Training wheel equiped truck. ;) ;) My 2500 is rated for 21,000 gcvw with 3:54's is this different than the 3500????

Dreif

Dreif,

Welcome to the boards! You will love the HO and 6 speed combo!! To be fair, I have two pieces of advice for you. First, please search this board as there has been a massive amount of "which rear end should I buy" questions asked and answered. Good reading! Second, I personally chose the 3. 54 due to the fact most of my driving would be unloaded (equals increased MPG over the 4. 10). If you don't intend to tow frequently with a fairly heavy load (approaching GCWR) the 3. 54 will serve you well (my opinion, others will differ). Please take it all in as there are those on this board that will give you valuable information, every time, free, in the spirit of helpfulness :D

Good luck,

David

THIS IS EASY

If you don't plan on working your truck, get a 3. 54 automatic. On the other hand...

Me? 70% of my milage is at max GCWR (21,500) My truck pulls so hard I find myself worrying about the hitch! If you buy knew expect a long break in. My first impressions of the ETH/DEE were not good. Now, however, a whole different story. I'd buy my truck all over again...

R/ Ian.
