ANY RECENT INFORMATION ON SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION KNOCK?

THE SOFT KNOCK IS VERY NOTICEABLE( SEEMS TO BE GETTING NOISIER) UN TILL THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.

SO FAR, THE DEALER SEEMS TO THINK IT'S COMMON AND NORMAL.

OTHER THAN THAT, IT'S BEEN A VERY GOOD TRUCK

Welcome to TDR, Richard :)

There has been some discussion about transmission noised in a couple other threads. Several others have had noises too. You could scan back a few pages or try out the search function. I would suggest just looking back and you'll find a lot of other interesting information :)

ps: Turn off your CAPS LOCK key because it is considered SHOUTING WHEN YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS ;)

FORTUNE,

It's NOT your transmission... it would be your clutch! Have everything in your clutch replaced and your noise will go away! I had 2 transmission's put in... . didn't cure the problem until the "CLUTCH" was replaced!

PM me if you like and we can discuss further>>>>>>

Mine makes a bit of knocking noise in neutral at idle too. But since the clutch and transmission seems to be functioning normally, I assumed it was just normal. I guess time and mileage will tell.

I'm willing to tolerate some noise from the transmission (or clutch, as it might be).

Frankster, what exactly was wrong with your old clutch?

rbatelle,

Good question?? I have my guesses... .

- tolerance between clutch plate and spline too much?

- Spring (s) loose?

- bearing? Throw-out?

*They didn't know... . but it's as quiet as a gasser

After 20,000 km,s the same noise in my trannie went away, nice and quiet now. Must congratulate Pacbrake on there e-brake,beautiful instillation, replaces 6 inch turndoun pipe off of turbo.compressor bolts into firewall without drilling any holes, couple things to remember though, when they say 15 pounds tork on exhaust turbo clamp they mean it!Try finding one of those in a small town of 5000,stealer said they don't sell them by itself, comes with new turbo:-{} :-{} ended up replacing bolt in the clamp on the third try. When they say be careful not to push the rubber plug,s in on the ecm plug when trying to remove them, they mean push the rubber plugs out from the inside out with torch tip cleaner!Way faster. Don't forget to remove inner weelwell liner only takes a couple minutes. Other than that ,i could do one in a hour and 30 minutes now. Quadzilla box came today, notice it had 3 way toggle switch with it for two different settings i think it was 70 and 130 and off. Truck dosent get out of bodyshop till Friday

I would respectfully request you avoid the generic reference, "stealer. " Please feel free to post experiences - good or bad - in detail.

Thank you.

Were you getting any clutch chatter or vibration in your clutch pedal as well? Do you have any vibration in your clutch pedal now with the new clutch?
