Sketchy ATV Bridge

Wife and I went for a ride this afternoon. Trailered the Can Am to Millinocket, unloaded and went to Brownville.

This bridge is about 5 miles into the trip...

Yes, there are a bunch of those. Heavily traveled trail summer AND winter.

The noise alone is fairly unnerving....

It is blind approaching from Millinocket (that’s the end with the two turns) but a straight shot from the Brownville end. The only safe thing to do is shut down and listen. It would suck if you had to back off either end. It says 68” but I’m 61 1/2” at the flares and I rubbed twice. I think the chain link fence comes in at you as the bridge compresses....plus I rubbed twice again making the corners....

Sandy walked it after the dog and I went across, she said it rocked side to side as you walked...then she looked down and the running river underneath threw her perception completely off...

That's good, because it was lower than the highway deck, and log trucks were splashing all kinds of muck on us

Kind of an ODD FEELING? the bridge fluctuations as you cross looks as if your surfing with the wheeler.

*Technically*, that's what happens with big trucks (large cars) on highways. There might not be much deflection, but it's there.

That is one cool little "Golden Gate" bridge. I'd say somebody threw down some big bucks to build that.
