I don't know the SKF name myself, maybe someone else can help but I know Timken is a good name. Carefully feel the joints while leaving the axles in place and if they are tight and smooth don't bother. If you pull the axles to change joints you will disturb the seals and risk a lot more work later assuming they are not already leaking.

thanks I since have replaced the hub with the skf and didnt do the u-joint it was fine 233. 00 for the skf hub from schucks auto. napa wanted 410. 00 for the same skf hub got it installed for just over 90. 00 at big o tire. thanks

I replace the hub on my '03 3/4 ton suburban. Didn't check Napa but Autozone, Advance and Pep Boys. Advance had two options... the one made in CHina or the one made in Taiwan. I chose the one made in Taiwan as I've never had any luck with stuff like that from China. I don't remember the name brand but SKF sounds familiar.

if I remember right skf was owned by the swedes. in 2005ish chicago rawhide bought skf but this doesnt mean that the hub was made in usa or china or even hell dont know where it came from just where the company is from but it looked like a solid built unit at least.
