I am looking into a ski rack such as a Yakima or Thule , for my truck , for a secure way to haul our ski's during the upcoming season. leaving them in the bed without any way to lock them isnt ideal. i was wondering if anyone had any experience with a rack on our trucks ; how to attach the towers(no rain gutters) ect. I appreciate any response.

I was looking for the same info earlier this month but with no luck so I will be watching this post. However I think for me anyway it may just be cheaper and easer to make a custom rack for the bed using my existing ski rack just to clamp and lock them. Not sure on design but something that slides out so I don’t have to climb in the back of a magnesium chloride coated truck would be awesome. Anyway that is this weekend’s project so I will post some picks if I get anything done. But good luck on your search for info.

Had Yakima ski racks to transport surf rods on my '03, the towers are made by Yakima to custom fit the Dodge doors and seals and were quiet and waterproof. The ski racks are available with a locking mechanism that secures the latch. Any bike shop should be able to help, REI is a good place to buy, sometimes they run specials.

I use one by Thule for my kayak. It might be a bit much for skis but it's easy on off, and offers lots of flexibility.

Try a google search for Thule pickup rack.

thanks fella's ;

Will :i'd be interested in what you come up with , post some pictures if you build something.

Hinton: thats what i was wanting to know , if they had the clips to fit our trucks , and if they worked.

that thule pickup rack would be awsome, for alot of things:ladder , kayak , ski's... . but id have to take it of to pull the gooseneck

i'll add a picture if i get something.
